And the Best Beard Award for Beerdfest 2013 goes to...

This is Michael O'Brien and his winning moves at Beerdfest last night... I am sure it took everyone by surprise that he beat the HUGE length brought by our No.2 Runner-up Michael Legge but you see there was just one point in it and Crowd Pleaser was part of the make-up on the score sheet... this cheeky little tinker took to our catwalk and then posed for a #selfie!!! Priceless! And the extra point to take the title for this year... so remember boys, size ISN'T everything after all ;)

And a special video acceptance speech from Brian Blessed too? Oh me oh my as the cool kids say around here ;) What a gent to accept his Lifetime Achievement Award in such great spirits... (if I can figure out how to share this I will do asap! haha #techphobe)

Thanks to all who came along to compete, to watch, to help make it go so smoothly! I for one am exhausted but thankyou thankyou thankyou for such an awesome night, I may have recovered just in time to do it all again next winter ;)

Grapes Find

This is John from Bootle

He was hesitant to let me pap this beard because he says usually the sides are trimmed right down so tis more of an epic goatee style.. but here it is as is, he says it takes him around 6 months and he's been beardy for as long as he can remember...

The Grapes on Roscoe St is not only one of the finest drinking holes in Liverpuddle,
but a rich seam of great beards and general facial furriness!

Premier Beardy Opinion

This is me with a faux moustache posing for the photographer for the local rag #silliness

The Liverpool Echo contacted me after hearing about The Liverbeards and ran this piece about my 'abnormal love of beards' !

Abnormal in whose opinion please? haha never trust a journalist!
I defo never said half the stuff they creatively put in quotations but I always knew it was gonna be a stitch up, why else feature me at all...

Having said that tis fun being in the local paper regardless, imagine being the go-to girl for beardy opinion, that's a #win people haha

The Liverbeards

These are The Liverbeards

A small sociable gathering of bearded ones and beardy appreciators
who meet in The Baltic Fleet once a month

The group was a spin-off from my Beerdfest,
another of which is coming in November stay tuned...

Lovely chaps :)

Norwegian Jungle

This is Eric from Norway...

I met him at Studio2 on Parr St during the Korean Rock party at Liverpool Sound City...

He told me he was from the only Norwegian jungle!
I know nothing of Norway and it's forestry
but I DO know that this is one of the most EPIC beards I have ever had the pleasure to meet
and together with his long blonde hair quite the winning Viking look!

Epic Eric was a little tipsy, but I hope this picture does the greatness of his beard justice!

You Can Run...

This fine bearded fellow tried to escape me! haha

He didn't give me his name once I caught up with him outside Tavern on the Green
but did give good face I think you'll agree...

You can run fellas, but you cannot hide from the beardy blogger ;)

Godly Bearding

This is Jay from Manchester

During Liverpool Sound City weekend I found myself with rich pickings regards great beards!
While watching local band Amsterdam play in the Anglican Cathedral I met this gentleman who upped the general bearded goodness with a rather plush plum velvet blazer... extra style points mister!

Hello Sailor

It's been a bit thin on decent beards of late in my wanderings...
I was a bit worried that I wasn't going to see another beard worthy of note ever again!!!
My friends tell me this is because I have been spoilt by Beerdfest haha that my threshold for beards and tashes that merit blogging has made for slimmer pickings...
this is not an unreasonable hypothesis!
So imagine my relief at bumping into Aaron here in the Cavern Pub last week... originally from Stoke but a Liverpool boy now, he has only been growing this splendid beard and tash effort for a few months - showing great beardy promise for the next Beerdfest Aaron ;)
make sure you sign up!

Love At First Sight

This is Will and he has a mighty beard... as you can see!
I wanted him to enter my Beerdfest but he had to work a late shift and was a no show...
His loss, I reckon he coulda been a contender!!! haha
He promises to come next year to try and take the title from Jim,
which should make for a interesting challenge!
I am a little bit in love with this beard... sorry Will ;)

Cheeky Tash

I papped this cheeky tashed fella in Liverpool on North John Street just before Beerdfest
and begged him to participate!!
alas he was only doing 'Movember' and was shaving it off in a blaze of glory on Nov 30th
- so pretty lucky to have snapped him!
What a work of art!
I take umbridge with Movember.. yes you read correctly - I used the word umbridge! haha
(2013 is a year for fancy words #fact)
What peeves me is all these guys grow great tashes... and then 'the rules' state they must shave them off on Nov 30th?? Why??? I cannot get behind that!
Sure have an optional shaving off party or two but don't 'enforce' tash removal - they are a thing of effort and beauty gone in a second of an electric razor... it's just not right...
just as a puppy is not just for Christmas I feel a great tash is not just for Movemeber...
ah well, at least we can enjoy this one forever frozen in time,
caught before the clean shave on Nov 28th haha...

Winning Beard

Here they are - my bearded finalists (L-R Drew, Nick, Sam, me, Ian and winner Jim)

Thanks so much to everyone who helped Beerdfest become not only a reality but a storming success with many request for Beerdfest 2013!!!

When I first decided it would be fun to have Liverpool's first Beard and Moustache Contest I had no idea over 100 people would join me! Incredible! and frickn MARVELLOUS!

The world is a nicer place because of Beerdfest... see a local Bay TV report on the evening here

And stay tuned for Beerdfest related events thru the rest of this year - happy new year beard lovers - it's going to be EPIC! ;)
